Paper Salad Bowl Sizes and Specifications

Sizes are listed in both ml and oz, because factories quote in ml and US menus think in oz. The oz figures are the standard trade sizes: the bowl the US market sells as a 32 oz salad bowl is the 1000ml, and a 16 oz bowl is the 500ml. Brim capacity runs slightly above the label (500ml is 16.9 fl oz to the rim), and that difference is headspace for the lid. Material: Kraft / White / Bamboo paperboard. Lid options: PET / rPET / PP / Paper.

Volume (ml) Volume (oz) Dimension (mm) Lid Diameter
500ml 16 oz Φ150×130×45mm Φ150mm

Which Size For Which Dish

Most menus run on two sizes, not five. Pick the one that matches your main portion, then add a second for the outlier: a small side size, or a large one for the signature bowl.

16 oz (500ml)

Side salads, fruit cups, dessert portions, kids' servings

The size buyers most often underestimate. Fine for a side, too small for a meal.

24 oz (750ml)

Standard lunch salad, grain bowls, poke with one protein

The workhorse for most salad bars and delivery menus.

30 oz (900ml)

Loaded salads with several toppings, pasta salads

Wider footprint than the 750ml, so toppings stay visible rather than buried.

32 oz (1000ml)

Main-course bowls, poke with double protein, meal-prep portions

What the US market calls a 32 oz salad bowl. The straight swap if that is what you buy today.

44 oz (1300ml)

Sharing bowls, family portions, buffet and catering service

Check your cooler shelf height before standardising on it.

Kraft Or White: How To Choose

Both use the same board strength and take the same coatings, so this is a branding decision rather than a performance one. The practical difference is what your artwork does on each.

A light mark holds up on kraft, where the brown base warms every color it touches. White board keeps dark artwork and brand colors true, which is why photographic designs belong there.

The same logo printed four ways on paper salad bowls: light and dark artwork on kraft, light and dark artwork on white: CupsPak

One logo, four ways: kraft with light and dark artwork, white with light and dark artwork.

Kraft (brown) White
Brand read Natural, organic, farm-to-table Clean, modern, retail-ready
Print behaviour Colors shift warm on the brown base; light and single-color logos hold up best Colors stay true; the base for photographic artwork and precise brand colors
Scuff visibility Hides handling marks well Shows marks more readily in transit
Board strength Same Same
Coating options PE / PLA / aqueous PE / PLA / aqueous

The shortcut: send us the artwork before you decide. A light logo on kraft usually looks better than a dark logo on white, and we will tell you which base makes yours look right rather than letting you find out on 20,000 bowls.

Paper Salad Bowls With Lids: Which Lid Fits

Bowls and lids are ordered together, because a lid bought separately can sit loose on the same nominal diameter. Every bowl in the range takes one of two lid sizes, Φ150mm or Φ184mm, so a mixed-size order still runs on two lid SKUs.

Paper lids come in kraft, white or bamboo, and can be coated PE, PLA or aqueous to match the bowl. The flat rim is what holds any of them: a wide flange gives the lid a continuous surface to grip, which is why a dressed salad survives a delivery bag.

Four lid types for paper salad bowls side by side: window paper, PET or rPET, PP, and stackable paper: CupsPak

Window paper, PET/rPET, PP and stackable paper, all made for the same two diameters.

Lid Type Best For Fits
Clear PET lid Retail shelves and grab-and-go, where the salad has to sell itself. Anti-fog available so the view survives the cooler Φ150 / Φ184mm
Clear rPET lid The same clarity with recycled content, for brands working to a recycled-material target Φ150 / Φ184mm
PP lid Warmer contents and tighter budgets; less crystal-clear than PET Φ150 / Φ184mm
Round window paper lid A fiber lid that still shows the food. The middle ground when you want a paper lid but the salad has to sell itself Φ150 / Φ184mm
Stackable paper lid All-fiber programs with no window at all; stacks tightest for storage Φ150 / Φ184mm

Two diameters cover five sizes

The 500ml, 750ml and 1000ml bowls take a Φ150mm lid. The 900ml and 1300ml take Φ184mm. Order the pair per size and the fit is guaranteed.

The flat rim is what seals

A wide flat edge gives the lid a continuous contact surface to grip. It is the reason a dressed salad survives a delivery bag in these bowls better than in a rolled-rim one.

Test before you commit

Run a sample with your wettest recipe, lid on, upside down, overnight. Ten minutes of testing beats any spec sheet.

Frequently Asked Questions

What sizes do your paper salad bowls come in?
Five standard sizes, in both units because factories quote in ml and US menus think in oz: 500ml (16 oz), 750ml (24 oz), 900ml (30 oz), 1000ml (32 oz), and 1300ml (44 oz). These oz figures are the standard trade sizes, not rounded-up conversions. Full dimensions are in the spec table above. Custom sizes are available with MOQ 50,000 pcs/size.
Which bowl matches a 32 oz salad container?
The 1000ml bowl. Across the US market that exact bowl is sold as a 32 oz salad bowl, so if your current supplier quotes you 32 oz, the 1000ml is the like-for-like replacement. The same mapping runs down the range: 16 oz is the 500ml and 24 oz is the 750ml. Brim capacity sits a little above each label, which is the headspace the lid needs, so a 32 oz bowl still fills to 32 oz of food without spilling under the lid.
Should I choose kraft or white bowls?
Kraft reads natural and hides minor scuffs, which suits health, organic, and farm-to-table positioning. White gives you a clean print surface where colors stay true, which suits bold logos and photographic artwork. Both use the same board strength and the same coatings, so the choice is brand-led, not performance-led. One practical note: light-colored logos print better on kraft than dark logos print on white, so send us your artwork and we will tell you which base makes it look right.
Do the lids seal tightly enough for delivery?
That is what the flat rim is for. The wide flat edge around the bowl gives the lid a continuous contact surface to grip, which is why dressed salads survive a delivery bag better in a flat rim bowl than in a rolled-rim one. Order the bowls and lids as a matched set: a lid sourced separately may fit loosely even at the same nominal diameter. Test a sample with your wettest recipe before committing to bulk.
Do the bowls stack for storage and transport?
Yes. All five sizes nest inside each other, which is what keeps carton counts and freight costs sensible on a bulk order. Lids stack separately. If storage space behind your counter is tight, ask for the pcs-per-carton figures for your chosen sizes when you request a quote.
What lid options are compatible with your salad bowls?
Our salad bowls use two standard lid diameters: Φ150mm and Φ184mm, depending on bowl size. Compatible lid types include transparent PET lids (with optional anti-fog coating), rPET lids, PP lids, and flat paper lids. Lids can be ordered separately or as a set.
Are your salad bowls suitable for cold foods only?
PE-coated and aqueous-coated salad bowls are suitable for cold and ambient temperature foods including salads, grain bowls, and cold desserts. PLA-coated bowls are suitable for foods up to 45°C. For hot soups, we recommend our Paper Bowls or Takeout Paper Bowls range.
Can I get custom printed salad bowls with my logo?
Yes. We offer offset printing (up to 7 colors, Pantone match), flexographic printing, and digital printing for sampling. All printing is food-safe and applied to the exterior of the bowl. MOQ for custom printed orders is 20,000 pcs. Digital print samples can be produced in 7–10 business days.
What is the minimum order quantity for salad bowls?
Standard MOQ is 20,000 pcs per size and coating type. Mixed-size orders may be available — contact us to discuss. Sample orders are available before placing a bulk order.
Are your salad bowls compostable or recyclable?
PLA-coated and aqueous-coated bowls both carry BPI certification for commercial composting (the US standard), which means industrial composting facilities rather than a backyard pile. Aqueous-coated bowls additionally recycle in standard paper streams, where PE-coated bowls do not. For EU composting programs, ask us for current certification status before you print the claim.
